I have a serious addiction to gumballs. I know, it's weird. My friend, Kate, gave me this big jar of gumballs last Friday. Friday, as in 3 days ago. And as you can see we've eaten about 1/3 of the jar. I say "we" because it seems to spread the guilt around a little, but the truth is that I've eaten most of them. So pathetic.
I don't like to chew gum for hours on end. I just like to chew it until the sugary taste wears off, then spit it out and start all over again. That's how I've powered through 200 gumballs in 3 days. And you know what I have to show for it? Temples that throb whenever I chew my food, a monster headache, and a seriously compromised immune system. Is it any wonder I felt lousy all weekend?
So, I'm coming clean with you bloggy friends. And I'm considering quitting cold turkey...or at least until I can chew without pain again. Did you know that I don't like chocolate? I like to think of that being a merciful gift from God...because I know if I liked it, I'd probably never be able to stop eating it.
What about you? Any weird addictions?

You.Don't.Like.Chocolate?!
I say power through the rest of the jar and then they'll be gone and you won't be tempted any more. = )
Right now I've got some chocolate oatmeal cookies calling my name. I must answer.
Do you have a favorite color? I like yellow and pink best. But my true addiction is...cotton candy. We bought "the girls" some at our county fair, and I kept eating it, and eating it, and by the time I went to bed that night I had a tummy-ache. I fussed at myself ("that's what you get") and eventually got to sleep. The next morning (MORNING) I walked by the bag of leftover cotton candy and couldn't resist a little bit more. Shameful!
I'm not wild about chocolate either, Mer. I could live just fine without ever tasting chocolate again.
I used to LOVE Ice Breakers cinnamon gum. I loved the sensation of those little flavor capsules popping between my teeth. I would chew a piece till all the flavor capsules were gone, spit it out and unwrap another piece to chew. Sort of like chain smoking, only chain chewing I guess. I would chew that hot gum until it literally blistered my tongue!
Well, notice I said I "used to" love it? They quit making it! I looked on eBay a while back and people who had it hoarded are selling it on eBay for outrageous amounts! I was seriously tempted to bid on some but just couldn't afford to feed my addiction.
*Sigh*
So, YES, I feel your pain, my girl.
New giveaway at my site this week - come check it out! Thanks!
Oh I love chocolate, Mer. My biggest addiction is Kozy Shack Tapioca pudding. When I buy it (usually weekly) I'll indulge in it for lunch, dinner and breakfast the following day til tis gone. Polishing it off isn't the answer as there is always more to be found. Oh for "coming clean"
Mer,
I think this confession/addiction is kinda funny, considering:
1) The flavor in gumballs wears off after like a minute, and 2) I was under the impression that you avoid sugar?! =)
Not like I'm judging you (ha!!--I am far too tempted by sweets. Nothing too strange, right now, but when I was pregnant I was desperate for French fries!
LOL Mer ~ I suppose the sore jaw and other side effects are not too much fun though! I'll be praying for you to be released from your addiction! ;)
I go through cycles with "addictions". Sometimes it's saltine crackers (add some butter in there, and yum, yum, yum! ~ weird, I know). Other times it's chocolate orange Milano cookies (with milk, of course). With me it depends on what time of the month it is! LOL
Hope you're feeling better soon.
Blessings,
Trish
No chocolate??? Oh, I can NOT relate to that. Yes, you should be thankful because that would be a huge addiction. At least it is for me.
I would do the same thing with gumballs. Anything sweet, really.
Kecia...I like all 8 flavors the best.
Carrie...you've got it exactly right. The flavor wears off after about a minute, then I spit it out and pop 2-3 more in my mouth and viciously repeat the cycle. Chain chewing is what Diane called it. It's more true than she knows. And you're right that I avoid sugar (the gumball jar was a gift!). I totally believe that all that sugar in the gumballs compromised my immune system and that's why I've been fighting a cold and sore throat since Saturday.
Trish...I'm with you on the saltines and butter. I don't think that's weird at all!
FYI--I haven't had a gumball all day! And my mouth/jaw is thanking me for it! LOL!
mmm...my largest addiction - I have many- is to the frozen custard shop right around the corner from where we live. There's one flavor that I crave - Mocha Choca Ya Ya - makes me laugh on the inside every time I order it, and I have one once a week. I had to start limiting myself because I was out of control...
It's coffee flavored custard with these AMAZING chocolate flakes in it. Like a blizzard only a million times better! Can you tell I LOVE them??
