I got this in an email last week, and it made me laugh very, very, very hard. As a former pastor's wife, I can relate all too well!
There was one time that John mentioned in a sermon that our house was a mess and he had to iron his own shirts. It was, in fact, very true. It was also true that I had a 10-month-old baby, was pregnant with child #2, and had a serious bout of morning all-day sickness. The upside of him sharing that was that an older lady in our congregation hired a lady to come clean and iron for me every week. "Miss Janie" came every week for almost 3 years! Man, I miss those days! What a blessing that was.
So, so ,so ,so glad I'm not married to a man in the public eye! I don't really think I would actually have anything to worry about though. He's a great guy.
Too funny!!! I am a pastor's daughter so I have been in many a sermon illustration, too. I'll have to pass this along to my brother's wife. She will totally relate since he is one of those pastors whom I call a "confessional" preacher. Their illustrations are always about their own lives. :)
As a PK, I laughed my head off through this video. There are somethings you just don't need the entire congregation knowing when you are a teenage girl!
I sort of feel the same way as a PK. My dad would always talk about us and then everyone in the church would look at us to see our reactions. And everytime we go home - he recognizes us which embarrasses me to death. And I know he talks about me from the pulpit still because people in town always seem to know a lot about me. ha!
This cracked me up! I am going to have to pass this on to my mom. :o)
Coming from a pastor's home I know all too personally that the stories extend past the wife! We would DIE when my dad would share stories about my brothers and I. Ugh.
Hi, I'm Meredith. I'm a wife, mom, hiker, mountain climber, student, coffee drinker, Christ-follower, nature lover, and nutrition nerd. I grew up in the South but have called Colorado home for almost thirteen years and I love this state with all my heart. My family currently resides in a small, mountain community that sits at...you guessed it...7000 ft above sea level.
This blog is a bit like a family scrapbook for me. It's a place where I write about my family and lots of other things I love. Welcome!
