I am so thankful for the day off from making lunches, running the taxi, and remembering what to send in for Teacher Appreciation Week. It's been a full and busy week.
I'm trying to be intentional about keeping things low-key around here today.
We all slept in. Yay! We ate breakfast when we'd normally be leaving for school. Double yay! And we're all still in our pjs. The only thing on our agenda for the day is a trip to the library. It almost feels like summer! It's a taste of what's to come in about 2 weeks! I love it!
I forgot to tell you that yesterday on that field trip, I rode the bus with the kids. Exciting, huh? It gets better.
The bus driver wouldn't let any students sit in the last two seats on the bus for safety reasons involving a one-time experience he had with students opening the emergency exit while driving on the freeway in Denver. Yep, scary. I gladly sat in the rumble seat on the left, and another mom sat in the rumble seat on the right. (Can I just say that was the bumpiest ride of my life!)
Anyway, on the return trip, I noticed that the safety bolt wasn't bolted, and I reached over to
The kids around me were laughing so hard. One girl said, "You're the only adult I've ever known to get in trouble with the bus driver". The entire trip home, the driver kept shooting mean glances back my way. As we were getting off of the bus, I apologized and told him I was just trying to lock the door. He laughed so hard when I told him that, and his laugh made me really nervous. I'm glad I could provide such entertainment for my 4th grade friends, and I'm so glad that my plans today don't involve a big, yellow bus.

You are NOT KIDDING about those buses being bumpy!! I've sat on many a bus ride where I thought I was going to chatter my teeth loose from all the bumping!!
What a funny story!!!
Auughh!!
I bet you won't ever forget that field trip!
Have a great weekend!

funny! i wonder why it wasn't latched?
That story was FUNNY! I'm glad you have a sense of humor about it. The kids on the bus probably thought you were the coolest adult around for doing that :) Hope the next trip goes better...
Aww..
We nearly got hit when I rode the bus last year on the Cave of the Winds trip. Did you go on that? That would be funny if we were both there and didn't know we'd be such good friends a year later. I thank God for you!
Too funny! The kids had a great story to tell when they got home...maybe even better than the field trip?! You made their day!
Happy Mom's Day!

How funny! The kids must think you are the coolest parent ever!
That's funny! You've just given them a memory better than the fieldtrip!!
That is funny! Hey, you were just trying to help!
In Texas parents are not allowed to ride on the yellow dogs with the kids. Maybe that is why. So funny (but I admit my stomach hurt a little for you). What a memory. :o)
