sch-tuff...

I got my hair cut yesterday! It's a little shorter than I normally wear it, and I'm lamenting the fact that I can't pull it up in a ponytail (yikes) but it will grow, right?

Before my hair appointment, I ran to Michael's to get some stuff for an art project. My tire pressure light came on and I discovered a nail in my tire. I need to go have it plugged this morning (unless all the air leaked out overnight and I can't drive on it). I was hoping to have at least one morning this week (today) to stay home, but it's not working out that way! Oh well...

The Michael's trip was to get some red/blue dye because the kids wanted to tie-dye shirts to wear for the 4th of July.

They need to soak for 24 hours, so you'll have to wait to tomorrow to see how they turned out. I'm betting they'll look festive! The girls each made a hat to go with their shirt, and Will also dyed a bandana because my kids are really into do-rags.

John only has to work until noon today! His bosses decided that the only thing better than a three-day weekend is a three-day weekend that starts early. Who can argue with that? I'm not sure who's more excited to have him around this afternoon...me or the kids.

I'm going to a friend's birthday party tonight. All by myself. It's a very grown up party...wine, cheese, and chocolate. I was going to make her a set of personalized scripture cards like His Girl sent me last month...

Isn't that a thoughtful gift??? I keep my set in the kitchen, and I flip through them at least once a day...

Unfortunately I ran out of time (and computer ink) this week, so even though that's a lovely idea, I'm going to have to put my thinking cap on and see what I can come up with in a pinch.

Happy Thursday!

Hey Mer! I've missed my bloggy buddies this week - just NOW getting on to catch up. Pathetic, I know.

Those shirts look like FUN! You go, Fun Mom! :) I wanna see a picture of the haircut. I'm trying to figure out what I'm going to do...

Mer,

You are so creative! I love the prayer cards thing! That is awesome.

I hate it when I plan to have a "home" day and then something as boring and time consuming as a tire becomes an issue.

And I love the tie-dye. We have never done that before is it hard?

Happy Day!

You are so brave to do those shirts with your kids!! I did them with one of my classes at school one year, but I don't think I'm up to that with my rowdy 3!

Love the Scripture cards.

Have a good one...

I've always thought making tye dyed t-shirts would be fun. Maybe I'll try it some time.

Those scripture cards are awesome - I'll have to keep those in mind for myself or a gift in the future!

I found your blog last week through "Jewels in my Crown...Someday" and I love it. I grew up in Colorado Springs and my parents still live there.

Have a great 4th!

Blessings,
Laura

Look at those CO thunderboomers in the background! Great shots, Mer. We should do that too--even if we have to celebrate inside because of the rain.

I love my set of scripture cards, too.

In terms of ideas (should you want any), you could make your friend one of your beautiful boxes and put simple treasures in it (e.g. sm box of truffles or other chocolate, nail polish for summer, sachet, chapstick, notecards, etc). She can keep this at her bedside or whereever her special place is, and she can refill it with little treasures as she sees fit. Just a thought.

Blessings on your 4th!

First of all, I'm living vicariously through you and the fact that you get to go out to a fun birthday party tonight--complete with wine, cheese and chocolate!!
And, I love the personalized scripture cards--what a great idea. I may have to even make some for myself. ;-)

Can't wait to see the t-shirts. I hope you had a great time at the party.

I love my scripture cards too! Isn't she thoughtful. My co-leader and I made a set for the ladies at our table for our end of the year gift. If you would like the templates I made I would be happy to email them to you.

I got my haircut a little too short this time as well. I'm bummed I can't pull it up anymore. It takes mine so long to grow!

Here's a secret - I've never tie-dyed shirts. Gasp! I don't even know how, can you believe that? I need to learn. I know my kids would love it.

I LOVE, LOVE those scripture cards. What a cool and thoughtful idea!
