Is it just me??

Is it just me, or does it seem to you that the word verification feature for blogger comments has been using real words lately instead of just random vowel/consonant blends?

More and more I'm typing things like "benstilt" and "hallfix" instead of "twyyyvls" or "mljyxmf".

Call me crazy, but I think it's getting easier to leave comments on blogs that use word verification (whichbythewaydrivesmebananasandthat'swhyIdon'thaveitonthisblog).

I had the word beer the other day. I do like the words better and agree it makes it easier. I did not have the word verification either until I got hit with a bunch of spam. The word verification seems to keep that away.

I've been noticing real words and I'm SO excited! Sometimes it takes me 4 tries to get those right!

This is my first visit to your blog. I clicked over to read the post about your Thankful Chain. What a wonderful idea! I've been searching for ideas like that for kids, its great! I really love your posts and I'll be adding you to my reader so I don't miss a thing! I'll also be linking to your chain idea if that's ok!

Yep...they drive me bananas too, that's why I don't use it...I guess it serves a purpose, although I haven't figured it out yet. So, I always appreciate the fact there's not an extra step when I "talk" to you :)!

I've noticed that word verification is using real words or at least quasi-words, if that makes sense.

I only turn on word verification if I get a bunch of spam comments, then I turn it on for a while, then back off when it seems the threat has passed.

I've heard that some institutions that deal in discovering old manuscripts that are undecipherable by computer have begun using 'word verification' to help them figure out difficult words. The same word will appear 8 to 10 times and if they get the same reply, they conclude that what they've come up with is correct. So, you see, we're helping science and the arts!

Your husband is silly!!

I never really understood the word verification feature, but assumed it was safer, so I use it.

I hadn't noticed the change in word form until another blogger posted much the same as you the other day.

Ugh! Drives me nuts too! I don't use it on my blog and have never gotten spam. (And no, spammers, that is NOT your invitation to invade!)

But yes, I've noticed read words lately too. Here's something weird: I was leaving a comment on a friend's blog and the verification word was my friend's last name! And it's not a real "word." It was kind of creepy.

It's definitely not you. As a matter of fact, it was so noticeable to me, I thought about doing a short post about it too.

You beat me to the punch! :-)

I totally agree! I just typed "tapedue" and that is not the first time I've noticed this! Very interesting.......

Sorry about the word verification on my blog! I always laugh at blogs who are private, have word verification AND have to approve the comments! That cracks me up!!

I am cracking up about this!!!!
I noticed it too but would never have even thought about blogging it. LOVE this post!!!

u funny. :)

Thanks for reminding me that it was YOU who asked the "why do you read blogs" question.

I read your blog all the time but rarely comment.

IMO, word verification is a necessary evil. I have it on my blog...so far, so good for keeping the spammers away!

I visited a blog once where the post pertained to a sump pump problem and my word verification was "sumpme." I got a bad vibe there!

No, it's definitely not just you. I've noticed the same thing!

No, you are not crazy. I've been seeing the same thing lately. Thought it was a fluke until I read this post!

I got a couple lately--one that indicated I was not a voter and the other was a near cuss word aimed at me. It ended in ou.

I really get caught up in the "choose an identity" statement. That always makes me laugh! Like today I think I'll be Lucy...or Alice...
