Yesterday I was helping Sarah download some music to her ipod (yeah, she has an ipod and her parents don't!) and she wanted some Christmas songs on it. It was then that I realized I haven't heard my favorite Christmas song this season. She had some itunes money left and was gracious enough to let me purchase it (secretly, she loves it too), and I keep listening over and over and over. (There is much rolling of the eyes when she catches me with her ipod. I have to ask permission first or pay her a quarter).
Anyway, the song I love so much is Welcome to our World by Chris Rice. I think it is so, so beautiful, and these lines always make me cry:
Fragile fingers sent to heal us,
Tender brow prepared for thorn,
Tiny heart whose blood will save us,
Unto us is born. Unto us is born.
So wrap our injured flesh around You,
Breathe our air and walk our sod.
Rob our sin, and make us holy,
Perfect Son of God. Perfect Son of God.
Welcome to our world.

I love that one too!
I cannot tell you how much I love this song. Chris Rice is one of my favorite artists anyway, and this song gets me every time. Come to think of it, I haven't heard it yet this season, but I do have it on CD, so I think I'll go pop it in...
Oh, I forgot to list that as a favorite. It's so good, Mer. You're right. Take heart--I was the last in our fam to receive an iPod. Actually, it's an iphone, but only because my fisher price phone (read: free) was biting the dust, AND the kids determined I needed an ipod. :)
Oh yes, definitely a wonderful song!! Chris Rice is amazing and this song is no exception! BTW, I asked for an iPod for Christmas. :)
I LOVE THAT SONG, TOO!! So good...so good.
For some reason I remember LAST YEAR you saying this was your favorite song and now every time it comes on the radio - I think of you! Crazy, huh?
A quarter?! HA HA HA. That's funny.
I haven't heard it yet this season either--and I love it too! Merry Christmas and have a safe/uneventful trip. :)
One of my favorites too!
I can not even tell you how very much I love this song. The first Christmas drama I wrote for our church was HUGELY inspired by it and it became so incredibly special to me that year.
It's one of those Christmas songs that I sometimes have to hear even when it's not Christmas.
