A Spr-link-ling of Holiday Randomness

I'm so glad it's Thursday because it's been a long WEEK. Whew!

I've been shopping, cleaning, to a Brownie party, to a band concert, to lunch with my husband, and I'm off this afternoon to the girls' Christmas holiday parties. I'm sure I'll want to come home and put on my pjs and stay in for the night, but oh, I can't...I have Bunco! Good thing I love Bunco and my Bunco group!

The girls don't have school tomorrow (poor Will does!) so maybe we can stay in our pjs for most of the morning.

John, bless his heart, has tried SO hard to find the one and only thing I wanted for Christmas to no avail. He feels bad, but I think it's sweet that he tried so hard. Not to worry, I have another idea for a gift he can give me. He's writing a story (in installments) over on his blog that I'd love for him to finish (hint, hint). If you want to read it, start here and work your way through it. It's beautiful and I can't wait to see how it ends.

One of the girls in my Brownie troop gave me some of this and I can't stop washing my hands. It smells SOOOOOO good!

I started some of my Christmas baking yesterday. I don't even know if you could call it baking. I made a double batch of my signature pretzels last night to give to some friends (should have taken a picture of them packaged...much cuter that way), and I just finished up a triple batch of this. It's my fave! I saw these cookies on another blog this morning and am thinking about making them with the girls tomorrow. Aren't they cute???

If I had mailed my Christmas cards a week or two ago, I think it would be fun to join in Faith's Christmas Card Carousel. BUT...I haven't mailed mine yet...and I want those of you on my list to open it and be surprised. I'm sad to have to pass on such a fun idea! You guys can join in though--the more the merrier.

Speaking of Christmas cards...do you know that you can order postage stamps online and the post office will deliver them to your mailbox? Yep. Mine came the next day! That sure beats waiting in line, or perhaps ending up with Little Mermaid stamps again.

I keep meaning to share this little bit of useless information with you. Did you know that Panera Bread (one of my favorite places to eat!) is called the St. Louis Bread Company in St. Louis? My friend, Jennifer, told me that before I went there earlier this month. Evidently, it orginated there, and when the franchise expanded, they changed the name everywhere except St. Louis. John and I met there for lunch on Tuesday and that reminded me that I wanted to share that randomness with you guys.

My dad is back in the hospital in St. Louis. He was able to go home last week, but started running a fever last weekend and ended up back there on Monday. He has an internal infection which they're treating with IV antibiotics and he's hoping to go home tomorrow. I feel like I'm riding a roller coaster these days.

Took this pic of the girls before school this morning. They're so excited about Christmas they can hardly stand it! Their joy is contagious. (Will leaves almost 2 hours before they do in the mornings, so that's why he's missing from the pic!)

They will have a blast making the reindeer cookies! They are super easy!

The girls look so cute! And a lot alike. I made the other Chex mix this year, they were addicting. The choc/pb/powdered sugar ones.

You can see the Christmas excitement in their eyes. How pretty they are, Mer.

You know, I watch Fox News all day long and for the past few weeks, there's been a commercial for that blanket with sleeves running constantly. It's not called a slanket, but it's exactly the same thing. I wish I could remember the name, but I'll watch out for it tomorrow and email you (if Cameron will let me have my TV for ten minutes). You can order them online. I think they're two for $19.99 BUT WAIT - order in the next fifteen minutes, and they'll throw in two more. Just pay shipping and handling. LOL

Your pretzels are gorgeous! I love it when you get all randomy like this. :-)

Really? Almost 2 hours? I guess that's what I have to look forward to next year w/ Noah.

I can't wait to read John's story. I stopped by the other day, but didn't have much time to read the first one. So I will have to start soon! Maybe I'll re-start when he finishes, so I won't have to wait :-) hee hee!

Praying for your Dad, for all of you!

I have the Twisted Peppermint body wash. It's my fave!

Yes, actually I did know at Panera Bread/St. Louis Bread Co. because there's one in Branson and it really confused me when the name changed.

Oh, man! The Slanket was on QVC last week as a today's special value. Okay...I'm outing myself as a Q watcher. Can we still be friends? ;)

Your girls are precious. And...how sad that Will has to leave so early! I hope he at least comes home early, too.

Continuing to pray for your dad.

Love your random post, too.

Mer, I am sorry to hear about your dad. I pray his body will restore quickly.

My dad had his surgery on Tuesday morning. He's been struggling with many aspects since the surgery. Currently he has an infection in his lungs, (remember he has an incurable lung disease).
We are praying for the infection to be healed quickly...

It sure is hard watching your strong father become weak and feeble...isn't it?

Hugs sent your way!
Julie

My, aren't you clever?! ;)

I think Madeline would LOVE some Little Mermaid stamps. So we'll just stay far, far away b/c she'd take them all and plaster them who-knows-where and waste all my money.

I DID know about Panera. In fact, all the seminary students call it "Bread Co" and they all get day-old bread there since it's dirt cheap. Covenant Seminary is in St. L, you know.

I'm glad they were able to treat your dad! Hopefully that will be the end of that...

And finally, how come Will has to go so much earlier? Sports or something or does actual school start that early? That sounds miserable for the mama!! lol

I love your pretzels - super festive and they actually look like something I could do with Savannah. Maybe. :)

So sorry to hear about your dad...I can only imagine the stress you feel. Still praying...

Your girls are so gorgeous...look at those smiles! You have been truly blessed.

I used to have a Bunco group, but we disbanded (much to my chagrin). I LOVE Bunco. I should start a new group...

Your pretzels look delicious! And the whole Panera thing -- that totally makes sense now. I do remember seeing it as St. Louis Bread Company several years ago. I never put the two together.

I discovered the moisturizing hand soap at Bath & Body Works last year when my hands were cracking and bleeding from washing/dry air. Love it! I went in last week with a $10 off $30 coupon. I bought 8 hand soaps (last me all year!), 2 room sprays, a med. sized body wash and body lotion, and poof (sp?) all for $23!!!

a SNUGGIE, it's a SNUGGIE!! .. and your previous commenter was right. They are 2 for $19.95 and you get that free pen light. How can you pass that up?? Then you'll have an extra one for John and you guys can cozy up in your snuggie/wanklets or whatever and be all romantic. Let us know how that turns out...

Love your random posts! I need to start doing those too, especially when I'm at a loss for ideas. LOL

The pretzels look yummy. Do you have a 'recipe' for making them? I'm trying to change my baking routine to try new things this year.

I just saw a commercial for a blanket like that........now I need to see if I see it again.

Those pretzels look great. We recently bought some pretzels. They were rolled in milk chocolate and then rolled in mini M&M's. Oh my gosh they were so good. I'm not sure I've ever had anything so yummy.

Sorry about the blanket - it looks SO WARM!!

I hope your dad is feeling better. I am still praying for him (and you!).
