A List

I don't have the time or energy for a well thought out post, but I do have much I want to say, so how about a list?

(You know I'm a list girl, right?)

1. Thank you, thank you, thank you for the comments about land lines and cell phones. You guys gave me some GREAT things to think about and some terrific ideas. I'll keep you posted on what we decide.

2. Many of you have asked about my dad. He had a follow-up appointment with his surgeon yesterday. He's healing well and feeling okay. His doc gave him a chemo schedule which he will begin in about a month. I watched Barbara Walters interview with Patrick Swayze the other night and found it very informative...and very emotional. There is a part of me that wants to take in every piece of information I can find, and another part of me that becomes so easily overwhelmed with it all. I've yet to find a good balance between the two.

3. Some of you were curious about the globe puzzle that Sarah got for Christmas. Well, it was a gift from Santa, and I have no idea how he instructed his elves to make that, but Sarah told me she saw it in the catalog from our local educational supply store.

4. I LOVE Facebook. If you're a Facebook holdout please ask yourself why. I've reconnected with some dear friends lately that I thought I had lost touch with forever. It makes me so happy to find old friends and to have a fun way to keep up with them from now on!

5. Know what starts TODAY? Girl Scout cookie sales. And guess what I have living in my house? A Brownie Girl Scout. If you're local and you don't have a cookie connection, I know a super cute six-year-old that would love to give you a call.

6. I've been highly motivated this week to get some stuff done around my house. Today, I painted something that has been bugging me for two years. Pics coming soon...don't have time to upload them right now. (Ooooh, suspense!)

7. We are loving this game that we got for Christmas. Anyone played it? It is fun and challenging! I especially love games that require you to use your brain! Abbey has asked to play every night this week, and she's really good at it too.

8. Okay, the no-spend challenge is proving to be challenging. I'm planning a post on that this weekend.

9. Yesterday, John brought home about 10 different cover designs for his book. VERY exciting! We got to see the publishing process unfold a few years ago when he wrote some Bible studies, and the evolution of a book is very, very cool! It's definitely more exciting this time around though because he has a little more say in matters like cover design. I'm so proud of him!

10. I don't really have anything else to say, but 10 seemed like a good number to end on.  Are you as excited as I am that the weekend is upon us????

I love Facebook. It is so addicting! I would love to order some cookies. Seriously, when do they deliver? I will be CO side in April for Easter...

Hi, back!! Yes, I was marveling again last night about how many old friends I've reconnected w/ on FB. I saw you commented there about paint -- I have a "needs paint" list myself!!

Oh. I need some girl scout cookies, too. :) I wonder if they'll be sitting outside of W-mart again here, come March.

Girl, if you lived closer I absolutely MUST have at least TWO boxes of Thin Mints and I unashamedly eat the entire box by myself!

Still praying and thinking of your Dad! Glad you updated and I, too, watched the interview with Patrick Swayze and I cried my eyes out!

I HAVE to check out the game! We love games around here...one we got for Christmas that is GREAT too is called Stare! Junior...it is sooooo fun! You stare at a pic for 30 sec. and then have to answer questions like "was the book in the boys left or right hand"?? It's sooo fun!!

Hope y'all have a GREAT weekend!

I almost bought SET several times. That, and Quiddler. Good to know SET is fun. Santa brought "There's a Moose in Your House" to our family, and even Big and I like to play. It's cute, and it's fast. ;)

Sounds so much fun to see that book unfold.

I love the Thin Mints.

I've never heard of SET... looks interesting.

I saw the Walters/Swayze interview too. It was emotional.

Challenging in to say the least....I was going to go eat with a ladies group yesterday for lunch but Addison fell asleep so I couldn't go...well i could have but she was so peaceful...Guess God gave me an out.

I did buy some fabric at Walmart b/c when WAlmart gets cute fabric you jump on it or it will be gone. I got an order yesterday using the fabric.

I'm so excited about the book...I can't wait! I hope things can work out about what we talked about.

I love girl scouts (was one myself) and I wish I could buy from you. Good luck with the selling :)!

I wish I could buy some samoa cookies from you - oh YUM!

I'm in love with facebook too. There are people from H.S. and college that I haven't seen in years and probably never would again if it wasn't for facebook - love catching up and seeing pics of their families.

And thinking and praying for your dad.

Mer,

Glad you posted an update about your dad. I'm out of the loop and have no idea what's going on with Patrick Swayze?!

I'm on Facebook, but I'm not a big fan. It's a little too "connecting" for me. I get friend requests all the time from people I scarcely know, and I just don't get that.

We're selling GS cookies over here too. Our council started selling on 12/20th. Is that the most ridiculous time you've EVER heard of?!?!?!? Last year we didn't sell until February. By then people have forgotten their New Year's resolutions and have somewhat recovered from Christmas. Sales are not going too well. Hope you have better luck!

I've been pretty good about money this week. I keep seeing your face in my mind when I am tempted to spend!!

Yea, yummy girl scout cookies! I was a girl scout when I was little! Can't wait till our local girl scouts knock on our door! I love them!

I never commented on your January spending challenge but, it did inspire me. We have spent money on paint and a few organizational projects on some closets but, we are both being way more careful about all the extras of life! Kind of nice month to do it with the cold weather and so much new Christmas stuff to use and play with doesn't feel too hard. Although, I'm not super strict or I would have never spent the money on painting the closets or other home improvements on our new old house this month. But, still our spending is way better under control than in Nov or Dec.

I'm still getting the hang of Facebook. Nice to IM with my daughter tho'.
Your post yesterday spurred us to look into any savings by disconnecting. So, by next Wed. we will no longer have our land line, saving us about $45 per month, and that along with disconnecting our Direct TV we have saved $100 per month! Be encouraged, your thoughts sparked savings in this family!
Have a great weekend.

Just when I finally get all the Christmas cookies out of the house, you tell me it's Girl Scout Cookie time? Ahhh! I have zero willpower when it comes to Girl Scout Cookies. Those Samoas and Thin Mints. Love them.

And, hey -- your post about shutting the computer off to get stuff done? It was totally the kick in the pants I needed to finally get the tree down. I shut the computer off today and refused to turn it back on until the deed was done. I'm so proud of myself -- and so thankful for your clever idea! :)

With all that you have gone through with your dad in the past few months, it is no wonder you feel overwhelmed. I think of you (and him) often and I am continuing to pray for you both.

Facebook rocks. :) Between that and blog reading, it's a wonder my house isn't even more of a disaster than it already is.

I am loving the globe puzzle. That is going to be on MY Christmas list for next year. ;)

Oh...I want Girl Scout Cookies! Too bad we're so far away...or you would have a sure sell.

I heart Facebook so much...I've been trying to remember my life without all my friends that live in my computer...what a sad little world! :)

We had a girl's night out last night...we talked about you and missed you! Talked about John's book, too!! :)

GIRL SCOUT COOKIES?! If only you were closer...

I know EXACTLY what you mean about the balance between too much information and being well-informed. Let me know if you figure it out.

Our kids play Set at school (our Louisiana Providence school, not home school). I need to get one for home. It is lots of fun!

I joined Facebook a few weeks ago and am having a ton of fun! People I'd even forgotten about I have reconnected with. I look forward to alumni this summer to see who will be there. It will be even more fun having had these conversations with so many of them this winter.
