It was Arkansas vs. UCLA.
I was an eighteen-year-old freshman at OBU and had been dating John for a few months. I brought him back a sweatshirt from the Hard Rock Cafe in Dallas. I bet he still has it somewhere. I say that because the other day he put on a red, JCrew, button-up shirt that he wore on our first date (from 20 years ago, people)!
Anyway, I was green with envy when I saw this ornament hanging on my sister's Christmas tree last week.
My great-aunt Libby (who'll be ninety-years old next week) made it.
And you know I'm sentimental about stuff like this. My favorite thing about it is her name written on the back.
I was even greener when I saw this ornament.
My Nana made this one to commemorate the Hogs win in the 1978 Orange Bowl. (I was 8 years old in 1978!)
Yeah, all of my family is just a wee bit crazy about the Razorbacks.
But aren't these ornaments a GREAT idea for sports fans?
Speaking of ornaments. I took our tree down yesterday and counted all of ornaments on our tree. Wanna guess how many?
336.
Ornaments.
On.
Our.
Christmas.
Tree.
That's a LOT of ornaments, people! And like the ones pictured above, they each have a story to tell. Made me a teensy bit sad to bid them farewell until next year.
I hope my sister realizes what great restraint I exercised by leaving those two hanging on her tree.

Meredith- I've been reading your blog some for like 6 months now and you may remember me commenting some in the past. I tried adding you to my blog list several times and it will never detect a feed for your site. Any ideas why?
Anyway, I just wanted to let you know I am sending you a message on Facebook explaining some neato stuff so you will make the connection.
336 Ornaments, huh? Bet your tree is fun putting up and taking down..lol.
Wow! That is a ton of ornaments!!! My tree is still up, but I may have to count my ornaments...just for kicks!
Love them Hogs!
You know I will "Amen" your love for the hogs!!! Those ornaments are too cool! As for 336? OH MY......
I guess I may have to be a hogs convert, since the Buffs, Rams, and Huskies stink. Oh, and a fine howdydo to Mr. Shanahan, as well...
336? Wow. I'll have to count ours. I'm curious now.
Great idea for ornaments. Too funny. I should've done some for Elway's superbowls and the one Orange Bowl appearance I remember for the Buffs.
Now, that's what I call a serious Hog fan...turning scores into Christmas ornaments!
The number of ornaments on your tree is amazing. Just how long does it take to remove 336 ornament. Oh. My. Goodness.
Did you get any pictures of you and Margaret. I would love to see her!
So funny about those ornaments!!!
And that brings back memories of when the best gift around was getting something from the Hard Rock Cafe where ever you went. :-)
I've never counted our ornaments... would be interesting to see how many we have!
happy new year, sis!
WOW! That's a LOT of ornaments!!!! I love that about our ornaments too...you were extra bold leaving those ornaments! Not sure I could've :)...
336!!! How big is your tree?
But we are a lot alike. I threw out ornaments this year that had no sentimental value (like boring glass balls), because the collected ornaments are growing with each year!
I'm scared to begin counting.
I have to say I LOVE those ornaments too!!
That is a fantastic idea for the sports fan that I may just have to do for my husband.
