I keep all of my Wilton supplies in it, along with cake decorating ideas and instructions, birthday candles, food coloring, et cetera. I usually just reach in and grab what I need, but this time I dug through it and discovered some long forgotten treasures!
They're pewter candle holders that I had when I was little. I remember my mom using them on my birthday cakes growing up and I thought it would be fun to polish them and use them for Abbey. Aren't they fun? My favorites are the fish and the turtle!
There are only six so I had to add a lone candle, but she was still thrilled. They're super heavy so they sunk down into the icing and weren't really noticeable in our pictures. Too bad.
My mom was good about saving so much stuff from my childhood years. I'm afraid that I've not been as good about keeping treasures like these for my own kids. It's so hard to know what to keep and what to discard, isn't it? Do any of you have any great ideas or guidelines for keeping sentimental treasures???

How adorable!! I save some stuff. I have giant under the bed boxes for each child. Extra special art, pictures, notes, go in their box.
Those are fabulous! What a wonderful treasure to find!! I love the turtle too.
Love those. Precious.
How adorable. I like the turtle too. :)
I have a bin up in the attic for each child. Inside are some baby outfits, booties, special toys, etc. I have their albums too. Plus a school days book that houses their report cards, etc.
I do what CPQ does. I also have piles of paper/schtuff around the house. I'm not a good purger. Until I get frustrated at trying to find something. That's healthy.
Great candleholders, Mer. Props to you mom.
Those are really cool, I've never seen anything like them.
I have plastic tubs I fill with things of the kids. I also have a drawer I've keep paperwork, cards and the like in. I
I love these! I've never seen anything like them.
I keep way too much of Neeley's stuff. She's only in the second grade but I have 4 bins of her stuff to weed through. Yikes!
I love finding old treasures :)! Even though Web and I have been married for almost four years, I just went through some of my old things.

The pewter candle holders are amazing.
The Misters mom was really good about saving stuff.
This reminds me that i should try to remember to save stuff for my kids too!
Very unique candle holders, Mer. I've never seen any like them. Out of curiosity, I went back and found the photo of the bd cake and sure enough, those little candle holders are sinking. Too funny, but they're precious all the same.
Have a great trip!!! I know you will!
No.... if anything.... I keep to much! I have a book a year for the Blessings - but I also have a box - and even at the young ages they are - the boxes are overflowing! Ugh! So.... I would love to know what others do. I know our mutual friend J. - is very good about saving AND keeping organized! Perhaps she might have some insight! Have a great trip!

What a sweet treasure. I throw all of my kids things in a big plastic bin. I try to write their name and year on it, but if I was really organized I would have 3 separate bins and put their stuff in their own box. I try to save things too, but I hate clutter, so I throw lots of things out too.
I've been helping my Mom clean some things out this week, and I'm taking home 2 old Wilton catalog/magazine thingies from the 70's!! I'll have to send you a picture. I love your candle holders. :)
