Anniversary Week: Giveaway #5

A month or so ago, I got a happy surprise in the mail from my friend, Renae.

Isn't it cute? I can't tell you how much I love this market tote. I've used it so much and get so many compliments on it when I do! Right now I have it packed for the second grade Halloween party that I'm not sure is going to happen because there's a chance of another snow day today!!! isn't going to happen because our district just closed schools for the THIRD day this week!

I'm giving away one of these personalized totes from Renae at Tree Frog Creations today. You can visit her Etsy shop here. She also sells buckets and lunch bags and all sorts of other cute stuff (that I bet would make great Christmas gifts for people on your list!) And hey, if you're an OBU friend or alumni, guess what? Renae is too!

To enter today's giveaway, leave me a comment and tell me your plans for this Halloween weekend. Parties? Festivals? Trick-or-treating? A nice, quiet evening at home? My kids are excited about all we have going on this weekend. I'm excited too. I think our snow days this week have helped me feel a little more prepared for the activity overload!

Happy Friday! Don't forget that all of this week's giveaways are open until tomorrow night. I'll draw and post the winners sometime on Sunday.

The fine print: Giveaway will close at 10pm on Saturday, October 31. Winners will be chosen at random and posted on Sunday, November 1. Contest is open to US and international residents. You don't have to have a blog to enter, but you must leave a way to be contacted should you win.

We love hanging around our house and greeting the many trick-or-treaters. We usually have more than 100. We live near the town mall, so when trick-or-treat is over there, many head to my neighborhood. We live around lots of retired folks who don't like strangers at their door, but we light up our house and yard to let the kids know they are welcome. I also make lots of appetizers for my family to munch on while we wait for the little ghosts, goblins and super heroes. It's supposed to be 80 degrees here in eastern N.C. tomorrow. I can't imagine trick-or-treating in all the snow you have!

That is adorable! :) We are having a quiet evening at home tomorrow night. Movies (Charlie Brown and the Great Pumpkin and Ice Age 3), fun food (and of course candy), and the girls are going to camp out in our family room to sleep. We're all pretty excited about our humble plans. :)

What a cute bag! Halloween plans for us include a festival in our new town... then the UT game at my folks house that evening! Actually nothing at all to do with Halloween! But a celebration anyway!

We are going to be at home all day then go to a birthday party Halloween night. They will be trick or treating together then to her house for the party.

Love the bag!

I'll be throwing costumes together tomorrow at the last minute and trick or treating in our neighborhood. I'm so glad it's on a Saturday this year and not a school night.

Love the bag!

That bag is cutie.

Hmm...is it Halloween? Yikes.
I'll be with CPQ throwing together last minute costumes and going to houses of people we know.

BTW...my computer was messing up yesterday, and it wouldn't let me comment...but I LOVE your kids' costumes.. Really really cute.

What an adorable bag!!

My plans include flying home from a business trip and relaxing that evening! :)

We have a Fall Festival at church, with games, etc. It's one of our youth group's projects. Then families park their cars outside and have "Trunk or Treat". It's always fun.

But the best part of the weekend for me is going to be Sunday. An extra hour of sleep, breakfast at church, worship, and then the symphony! I can't wait!

I'm savoring this year b/c I think it will be our last of trick or treating--at least with the girl. The boy is done--he's figured out that you can have the candy without all the cold if you stand at the door giving it away in a "one for you, two for me" fashion. ;)

Usually, we take our kids and any who don't have a neighborhood and go around trick or treating in our neighborhood. Okay, Mer, we don't have the BEST neighbors, but ours are surely NEXT BEST, because everyone decorates their yards and just embraces this for the kids.

And of course, warm cider for those cold spooks when they come in to show their loot.

Today, J is going to her first Halloween middle school dance. I think I may have just thrown up a little in my throat.

This morning we go to Sam's school for their Halloween party. Tonight we carve the pumpkins and make a pumpkin pie (pretending I'm making it out of the real pumpkins because Sam cannot accept the fact that it comes from a can). Tomorrow night we trick or treat around our neighborhood and give out candy, too. And if we have time we plan to go to our church's fall festival. Sam is so excited, and I think we are going to be exhausted from 2 days of Halloween celebrations!

That bag is cute!! Good idea for Christmas presents! We are going trick or treating in the neighborhood. I'm making some fun Halloween Food (deviled eyeballs and ghost oreo truffles) and some pumpkin soup and an autumn sausage casserole in the crockpots (check this out mer www.crockpot365.blogspot.com) It's supposed to stop raining here. let's hope!!

Soooooo cute!

Well, I didn't have plans for Halloween, but my sweet friend called me up and asked me to come over, so now I do!!!!!! :)

Have a GREAT weekend!!

Stephanie Kay said...

We don't celebrate Halloween so it's kind of a regular weekend for us. (I know, we're weird. I'm coming to terms with that fact.) Tonight is our usual pizza and video (Original Flipper on Hulu!!). Then I think tomorrow will be spent clothes shopping for me. Having only 1 good shirt to wear in public is getting a little ridiculous!

Isn't 3 snow days in one week something of a record for your school district? :)

Robin Green said...

We actually don't celebrate Halloween at all--my children wouldn't even know what to do!! We are, however, going to the Boys&Girls club with our church and handing out candy bags. That will be about it!

O Mom said...

We stay home and watch movies and eat our own candy. My oldest daughter will be at her Homecoming dance though that night.....where'd the time go?

Tiffani said...

Oh you're killin' me w/ the cuteness this week!!!

Well, I know we've discussed a little but we're having a "Monster Mash" at my house complete w/ games, costumes, marshmallow roasting and cake eyeball eating!! I'm very excited about getting w/ my sister...don't get to see them as much after such a crazy summer of togetherness and then school starts and (thankfully) she's healthy and it's back to routine...

I'm dressing up too!!! I'm very excited to be a..............

ROCKER CHICK!! Complete w/ tattoo'd arms!!

JenB said...

Love the bag!! And goodness at the snow!!

We've got a date night tonight. (I know it's not a Halloween thing, but I'm excited for the long overdue date!)

Tomorrow we'll go to a fall festival at a local church----if it doesn't rain. Otherwise we'll go to a few houses on our street and call it a night!

Oh, and the circus in the morning!!

*carrie* said...

Very cute.

We'll be doing indoor trick-or-treating tonight in the college dorms. Nathan's going to be a lion, and Natalie a pumpkin!

Amy said...

Cute bag!

We're dressing up! My little one is the cutes bumble bee ever seen...the hubby might be a bee keeper and as for me, the Queen Bee!! :) Hope it's warm enough! Trick-or-Treat!!

On Saturday, we will go to a Halloween Festival here in town and hand out candy that evening. Sunday evening brings our annual Reformation Celebration at our church! The cupcake costume is finally finished and ready to go!!

This weekend we are going to spend the quiet way. We have Ice Age 3 ready to watch. My 14 month old son really doesn't understand Halloween so we don't need to get any candy for our house. Our church did a Harvest Party on Wednesday and My husbands school (He's in Medical School) did a Kiddie Halloween yesterday. So we were still able to dress him up and see other kids costumes.
That bag is so cute! I would actually use it for my big knitting projects!

Kelly @ Love Well said...

That is the cutest tote, Mer. I'm sorry your kids aren't going to get to celebrate with their school friends. I bet it's packed with all kinds of goodness.

We don't have any big plans this weekend. We've already participated in our extra Halloween events (one at the Children's Museum last weekend, one at our favorite grocery store this week). So we're just going to trick or treat in our neighborhood and enjoy the weekend together.

Cathy said...

LOVE that bag!

Our plans?? 2 flag football games in the morning. A harvest party at church for a couple of hours, then we'll head to some friend's house for dinner and trick or treating around their neighborhood. Good times!!

Christie said...

Hi! I just linked to your Thanksgiving post from a couple of years back from another blog. Love the chain idea and I'm totally going to use it!!! :) My 1st grader loves ANY reason to make a chain. We usually count down, but I like this idea so much!!

This weekend....I'm bracing myself for the activity overload as we're having a different sort of Fall Festival. Instead of having the Fall Festival at our church, this year we're "taking it to the streets" with neighborhood parties in two main neighborhoods in our town. So we're planning to go to the one closest to us and enjoy some time with our church fam while our kids have a blast...IF they are all well...waiting now to see if my 3 year old is recovered from completely from the fever he had last night. :(

Love the blog!

Such a cute bag! Our plans are to head to my husband's office today, they throw a Halloween party for the employees kids each year and then tomorrow we will be trick or treating around the neighborhood...if it is not raining. Not sure how I stumbled upon your blog but I do like reading it as it reminds me of our time living in Colorado. We have since moved out of state for my husband's job but hope and wish and pray that we have the chance to move back again someday to raise our two girls there. Love it. Here's hoping I win!

These bags are adorable! I will be taking my younger kids (ages 9 and 6) to Trick or Treat at our local mall in the afternoon, then to Grandmas court in the evening. Other than that low key!

We are headed to a Halloween party tonight and then tomorrow we are a family of scarecrows and are trick or treating. Can't wait to see if the bag is mine.

We usually go to a fun harvest party at a friend's house, but the weather is supposed to be crud so we will carve pumpkins and make cookies as a family instead.

Bless you and your generosity.

OK, I've gotta be the winner, because I will be doing one of your favorite things. Callin' the Hogs! I would really be more comfortable doing it from my chair at home, but I'm looking forward to the colorful drive to Fayetteville. Hope the wind yesterday didn't blow too many of the leaves off!

Assuming the rain stops in time, our church is having a bonfire, wienie roast and hayride Saturday evening, and I can hardly wait! I love all the above. I'm probably more excited about it than the kids. ;o)

Re: the rain: Spring River at Hardy is out of its banks, evacuations underway, etc. etc. And as of this minute it's still pouring down. Minor to major flooding all over NE Arkansas, so our weinie roast/hayride is in question right now. Boo!

It has been such a crazy week I would love a quiet Halloween weekend BUT I'm afraid that will not be the case! We start off tonight by attending a friend's party with 8 other families. There will be lots of younger kids there so JK will have a blast. We have a Spooky Halloween Pancake Breakfast to go to tomorrow morning to support my daughter's 5th grade class. Then we'll head to our town's Congregational Church for some fun games and activities. We'll cap off the night with friends coming over for pizza and then trick or treating. I will definitely be looking forward to a nap on Sunday afternoon!! Enjoy your weekend, Mer!

We plan to be a pirate and go to Lotta at Second Baptist. We also plan to go to Malvern and see Memaw Crowder and trick or treat at The Crossings which is an assisted living facility. Memaw can hardly wait to see her boy tomorrow!!

Well....we were planning our usual neighborhood trick-or-treating with friends, but it looks like we may have some flu going on around here. :(

We are going to a friend's house to trick-or-treat on her street. Then, our homegroup is going to a nursing home to deliver door crafts that our kiddos made and get a second round of candy! Finally, our group is heading back to our fearless leader's house where they've planned festival-type games and snacks for everyone. I can't wait! :-)

I'm hoping to be released in plenty of time tomorrow (late afternoon) to dress my kids and at least get some good photos before Andy takes them out. I can't really walk, under the circumstances (ifyouknowwhatImean). My mom bought some candy in case we get any trick-or-treaters but we usually don't get many...

2cats said...

The bag is great. It would be great for carrying books in to the used book store.

My son is 25 and doesn't go trick or treating any longer.
We live 22 miles from town. In the 19 years that we have lived here, I have never had a single trick or treater. I don't know what the problem is.

I love halloween, the best part is see all the kids that come to the door. As a grandma of three grand-daughters halloween hasn't change much since my sons were growing up. The difference is that the costumes are so fancy and pretty. Every Saturday the girls and I have a tea party, tomorrow is all about halloween. So, I've been busy making cupcakes, caramel apples and goodie bags for the girls to take home. Tomorrow I'll make mummy dogs, pumpkin spice tea, bleeding heart salsa and witches fingers and brooms. After the girls leave my hubby and I will eat an early dinner and wait for all the witches and goblins to come knocking at our door and try to keep the dog from barking.

Hi There!
Loving the bag. I also have enjoyed your blog. My husband and I are also Arkansas natives;lived all over the south the past 40 years and now in Mississippi.
It's a warm and muggy weekend here, so we plan to bike the Longleaf Trace Saturday and enjoy our little commnity Trick R Treaters at our door later in the evening.

Nina Diane said...

love that tote! It will be a quiet evening for me as hubby has to work a double shift. Kids are all grown. My daughter will bring our grandson by for me to see and I'll pass out candy.....

Trish said...

I can't believe you guys have that much snow and we have NONE!

Our halloween plans call for a carnival at school, of which I somehow came to be in charge of the cake walk (we've only been here 4 weeks!!! how'd that happen?)
Then the evening at home with hopefully some trick or treaters.....but we kindof live in the woods, so I have no idea what to expect.

We told the boys that we would not be trick or treating this year because we do not really know anyone here (and it's cold!!!) and they seem to be taking that pretty well. I do have some 'treats' for them and I'm sure they'll get enough junk at the school carnival.

Love the bag!!!

My Sa-weet hubby met us for dinner last night and took the kids to the carnival at his work, by himself. I got to have the evening to myself to browse Micheals, Target and the Dollar Store. Love him.
Tonight we are taking the kids trick-or-treating for the first time. We usually go to our church's festival, but not this year. The kids are so excited to ring doorbells... it's the little things in life. ;)

We're going to fall fest with the kids tonight. It's the first time in 10 years that hubby and I haven't been incharge of the big event, so we plan to enjoy it with our kids!

Normally we do nothing for Halloween except buy candy on clearance and watch a fun movie as a family. But this year, for the first time, my kids get to trick or treat. They are beyond excited b/c their daddy is not a fan of anything Halloween-related. I can't wait to take pictures!

That bag is so, so cute. Love the funky print!

This weekend is about spending time with friends before we head home again. The girls are excited about my baby being in costume with them. We trick-or-treated in downtown Torrington, watched episodes of the first season of Fame, watched the snow melt, and cheered the SE Cyclones to a football victory. Now enjoying the extra hour before bedtime.
