John is in the midst of a really busy week, so instead of us collaborating on this post, I'm going to give you the 411 on why he wears his wedding ring on his right hand instead of his left which he alluded to in this post.
I know you're on the edge of your seat.
He has two webbed fingers on his left hand, one of which is ring finger. I keep forgetting to take a picture so you'll have to pretend this is his hand. It's not though. I ripped this pic from Google images. John's hands are much more rugged and masculine, and his webbing isn't actually that noticeable.
Weird, eh?
Before we were married, he asked me if I wanted him to have a procedure to separate those two fingers so he could wear his wedding ring on his left hand. It was sweet that he was willing to do that, but honestly, it didn't matter to me which hand he wore it on. The only time I ever even think about it is when I hold his left hand and try to interlace my fingers with his. We usually just laugh and switch sides so I can hold his right hand!
It's funny how many people have noticed and asked him about it over the years. Some have wondered if he's European, which makes me laugh because John has a very distinct southern accent. Others have speculated that he wore it on his right hand to symbolize his devotion to God.
None of the above.
Just two weird webbed fingers.

it's an arkansas thing....i can say that because my great grandparents were from ark. and were actually related....haha, teresa s.
I like those little things that make each of us a little different or "weird"! :) Fun reason! I would have never guessed that reason! :)
Bummer on the wedded posts coming to an end! :)

I love it! I just figured it had some spiritual significance, but it doesn't at all. Fascinating the assumptions we make, huh?
You make me laugh! I've been out of the bloggy world for a while, but I'm glad to be catching up!
One of my husband's best friends has the same thing & he also wears his wedding ring on his right hand! (and, his wife wears hers on her right hand also!)
I thought you were going to have some symbolic reason - I'm glad you people are so normal and real. :) heh
I did wonder when he alluded to it! That's interesting, and people's assumptions made me laugh. How silly. :)
Interesting. Crazy how we humans are prone to make assumptions.
Well, you learn something new every day. Very interesting! I never knew that. Thanks for your posts! I LOVE them!
This made me laugh too, but not at all about the webbed fingers, or the wedding ring......
but about his distinct southern accent. You know how you see pictures of someone and think you know what their voice would sound like just from their picture. Or read someone's writing and think you hear it in their voice (I hear you write in what I think is your voice!)....Well, I never would have put a southern accent to John's voice. I don't know why, I just didn't. Now you have me all confused.....
And that webbed finger picture is weird.
I too have loved your Wedded Wednesday posts. But I know there's always good stuff coming from you even if it isn't titled Wedded Wednesday!
I love that you can start something cool, ride the wave of it, and when it feels plodding or cumbersome, you can have the good grace to let it go. I will bid the WWs a fond farewell when you're through, because really, they've been awesome. Nice to see you and J play a bit on the blog, too.
And re: the webbing? Live long and prosper, babe.
My husband as rhematoid arthritis which makes it very difficult to wear his wedding ring so he's laced it on his keyring. Ingenious of him don't you think?
Hi Meredith, I don't comment often anywhere anymore, but I still read. :) Just wanted to say hi!
Ha ha. That's kind of funny. I bet the Vulcan greeting wasn't part of your dating ritual. :) hee hee.
I've been absent from the blog world and just wanted to say hi, friend... Happy Easter :)
Well, I'll be Johnny. I never knew that.

Hope you had a blessed Easter, friend.
(BTW...Lisa and I were at a church Easter egg hunt today and were remembering the days at the Goodson's...fun times.)
Very interesting! The European thing is funny. I've not met you in person but knowing your from Arkansas I imagine you sound like my family. :) I'm afraid 12 years among Yankees has taken most of my Southern accent away - at least to Southern ears. In Feb. we took the subway up to Boston and a true Yankee asked Joel about his southern accent. That makes me laugh! He grew up in Asia and Africa. He definitely does not have an accent. :)
I love it! Kel's missing part of his digits on his right hand (grew up on a farm with a saw mill).
I agree with Gretchen. Kind of like when Seinfeld went off the air at the height of its popularity. And I always appreciate your honesty. It's one of my favorite things about you.
