SMP = Seven Minute Post
Weeks that start on Tuesday are HARD for me. I feel perpetually "off". The only redeeming thing about weeks like this is that Friday arrives much more quickly!
Abbey's appointment with the allergist confirmed that she IS allergic to pistachios. Along with two other tree nuts--pecans and hazelnuts, with hazelnuts winning the "most allergic nut" for her. So, the EpiPen stays because tree nut allergies tend to fall into the life-threatening category. I'm honestly just glad to know conclusively. And true to form, Abbey was very brave during the testing. Not sure I completely understand what the girl who endured her dental fillings without being numbed up was afraid of!
Today is bible study day and the end of my 7 food fast. Of COURSE we're all going to lunch afterwards. OF COURSE. I modified my fast a bit since I originally wrote about it. Initially I was only going to eat 7 foods but after I got to bible study last time I decided to cut out seven things. I cut out all caffeine, soda, sugar, grains, ALL processed food, beef (I adore beef), and for the life of me I can never remember the last one. I have it written down somewhere...I'll find it later. It's been hard but very very good (feels like I talk about this all the time) and for this next two week period we'll be looking at clothes and their excess our lives. I get to wear the same seven pieces of clothing for two weeks. I'm still choosing what those pieces will be but I'm sure you'll hear about it so stay tuned.
My seven minutes are up. Hilarious to me that I started these seven minute posts before I knew the significance 7 would have in my life!
Peace out, peeps, and HAPPY hump day!

I'm so glad you took her to the allergist. The tests are horrible but it put my mind at ease. 'Knowing' gives me peace.
Does that mean if you choose to wear socks (2), jeans, underwear, t-shirt, sweater, and a bra...that's it...the same ones over and over?? Will your washing machine be humming every single night, and in that event...whatever will you wear while you wash your clothes? This could be interesting.... ;)
Glad you found out conclusively about the allergies...the thing I told you about discoloration of the epi-pen. I looked at mine the other day and it says it right on the epi-pen. It's a bummer for me because I need to replace mine. :(
Can't wait to hear about the 7 pieces of clothing. I'm not a fashion maven by any means, but not sure I could wear the same seven pieces for two weeks. Unless I could stay home the whole time. Then it would be pajamas, of course.
I read the book Seven. I love your decision to cut out 7 things rather than limit 7 things. It's hard to do with families. I don't think the clothing would be a problem for me. I wear black long sleeve t-shirts, jeans or yoga pants and ugg knock offs every day. it's my winter uniform! i don't think you need to count hiking clothes :) I loved the book but didn't go through the actual process. I like thinking about it though and it makes me aware daily of the excess in our lives when others have so little.
Adrienne,
I'm not counting workout clothes because I do somet kind of exercise 5-6 days a week and I have to wear so many layers of workout clothes to stay warm!
My seven include:
one pair of jeans
long sleeved gray t-shirt
red down vest
black shoes
purple sweater
red sweater
black long sleeved t-shirt
Socks and undergarments don't count. I'm also limiting myself to wearing ONE pair of simple hoop earrings everyday...because I feel naked without earrings. Still on the fence about scarves. Feeling like I probably need to say no to that item. I'm only on day 2 and yesterday was a snow day so I don't know yet how badly I will wish for a scarf to change things up.
