We spent five days in Telluride in early July. We'd never been before and we pretty much fell in love with it. It's a small, mountain town nestled down in a box canyon with gorgeous views in every direction.
We did a lot of swimming--John found a hotel for us that had an outdoor pool (rare in CO) and I think the kids went every single day!
We rode the gondola more than once up to Telluride Mountain Village (the ski resort area) and did more shopping, strolling, and eating! The gondola ride up and down is STUNNING!
We did a little hiking. Well, John and I did. Our kids weren't interested and the beautiful thing about them being older is that we could leave them in the hotel and head out alone. They were okay with that as long as we returned with breakfast!
John went on a trail ride one morning led by a real, live cowboy while the kids and I opted to sleep in. He LOVED it!
We found a mexican restaurant--La Cocina de Luz-- that was SO amazing we ate there twice for dinner! We also loved Baked and Brown Dog Pizza. Also had some great bar-b-que and and one night John and I went out for dessert without the kids! Sadly, I can't remember the names of those places!
We had a great week and we'll be back for sure. We'd love to ski there sometime...better yet, we'd love to figure out how to live there year-round!
